The Japanese will perish in 3300
There are news reports from around the world that the number of births has declined last year due to the effects of the coronavirus. In 1947, after the end of the war, 2,687,792 people were born annually in Japan. However, in 1994, the total fertility rate dropped to 1.50, and the annual number of births dropped to 1,238,328. And last year, the number of births in 2020 was 872,683, falling below 1 million for the fourth consecutive year.
Following the decline in the number of births, Japan's total population peaked at 128.1 million in 2008 and has continued to decline for the 12th consecutive year.
How should we interpret this issue realistically, not just as a science fiction novel? If the population of Japanese society continues to decline at the current pace, the last Japanese will die in 3300 AD and the Japanese will become extinct. Moreover, the last Japanese will live alone for about 100 years.
